Butsys Best for the Weekend

Guest Tipster JD - AFL Round 19

See the Bombers fly up! Friday night football returns to the MCG when Essendon take on Carlton. The Bombers have gathered some late season momentum with consecutive wins, while the Blues would be hoping to bounce back from their poor performance against Collingwood last week. Chris Judd looks likely to play after being cleared of serious injury to his pectoral muscle and this news has seen a reverse in the betting for this game. The Bombers have drifted from 1.77 to 2.00 while the Blues are into 1.78 after opening 2.03. Essendon have won the last 6 against Carlton and look to be finding some form and belief while the Blues are battling, with only 2 wins, against Brisbane and West Coast in their last 7 games. Back Essendon head to head @ 2.00.

Top 4 still on Radar! North Melbourne takes on the Fremantle Dockers on Saturday in what is a must win game for both sides. Fremantle are only out of the top 4 by percentage while a win to the Kangaroos would keep their top 8 aspirations alive. The 'Roos are struggling with injuries at the moment, while the Dockers bounced back to the winners last week with an emphatic win over cross town rivals West Coast Eagles. The Dockers appear to have too much depth and should record their third win in Melbourne this year. Back the Dockers at the -5.5 line @1.90

Hawks to swoop on Swans. Hawthorn makes their second interstate trip in as many weeks when they travel to Sydney to take on the Swans. The Swans will be looking to get back on winners list after a couple of heavy losses at the hands of Melbourne and Geelong, while Hawthorn will also be disappointed in dropping last week’s game against Port Power when they looked in control. Sydney has won 7 out of the last 10 against Hawthorn, but the Hawks are in better form, despite last week’s hiccup and the absence of Cyril Rioli. Back the Hawks under 39.5 @2.45

Wooden spoon anyone? Brisbane Lions make the biggest road trip in AFL football when they head across to Perth to take on West Coast Eagles on Saturday night. West Coast has won 1 of their last 10 while the Lions have an even more unimpressive 1 win from 14. The one real shining light for West Coast has been the goal kicking form of small forward Mark LeCras, who kicked another 5 last week despite his side being well beaten by the Dockers. It is hard to see who is going to kick the goals for Brisbane with Fevola out for the rest of the season with a groin injury and Jonathan Brown still not operating at 100%. Back Mark LeCras for high goalscorer in match.

One for the purists! Collingwood and Geelong meet on Saturday night at the MCG in what can only be described as blockbuster. The red hot Magpies have swept all before them, having not lost a game since Round 10, while the reigning premiers have been sharpening their claws of late with big wins over Brisbane and Sydney. Both sides will be close to full strength and a huge crowd is expected. When the two teams met in Round 9, Collingwood scored 2.12 after half time to cost them any chance of victory, as the Cats ran out 36 point victors. Collingwood are undoubtedly the form side of the competition, and look enormous value at the 2.03 head to head. Back Collingwood head to head @ 2.03.

"Saints Footy" to return? St Kilda is looking to get back on the winners list when they take on the resurgent Port Power on Sunday at Etihad stadium. The Saints looked lethargic last week against Essendon while the Power finished full of running in there come from behind victory against the Hawks. When these two teams met earlier this year, Power won a dour encounter 54-44. St Kilda will be looking to get back to the high pressure football that set up so many wins earlier this year, while every good performance from the Power gets Matthew Primus closer to the 2011 coaching position. Back total game points UNDER if the line comes up 165+.

Tigers big odds again! Richmond and Melbourne clash on Sunday afternoon at the MCG in what looms as a great betting opportunity. Both sides are coming off confidence boosting wins, Melbourne on the road against the Lions while the Tigers tasted success against the Crows at home. Melbourne started brilliantly last week against Brisbane before fading in the second half to cling on to a narrow victory, while the Tigers appeared to be full or running against the Crows. Melbourne has also had to travel back from interstate, while Richmond had the luxury of playing at home last weekend. It is for those reasons that the Tigers look the value bet of the round. Back Richmond head to head @ 2.55.

Western Bulldogs to continue on winning way. The final game of the weekend features Adelaide Crows taking on Western Bulldogs at AAMI stadium on Sunday afternoon. Last time these two teams met the Bulldogs had a comfortable 43 point victory with Barry Hall kicking 5 goals. The Bulldogs are marching towards a top 4 position and need to keep winning, while the Crows have little left to play for. Expect the Dogs to win well. Back the Western Bulldogs 39.5+ @ 3.10

Multibets have returned to Betasport and provide a wonderful opportunity to get some large collects for a limited outlay.

This week’s best multi is Essendon h2h/Fremantle -5.5/Richmond h2h

Odds 9.69/1
